Bharat is the Co-founder and CEO of Hill Station Coffee.
A Los Angeleno by birth, Bharat has a business degree from the University of Southern California and has worked in business development roles in the blockchain, music, and entertainment spaces. He then made a radical shift during the pandemic to self reflect and launch into pursuing his passions in small business entrepreneurship and independent investing.
Currently, in addition to his role at Hill Station Coffee , he runs Bala Chai, an adaptogenic Indian chai company he founded in 2020 that has been featured on Epicurious, Re/Spin, and Kourtney Kardashian's POOSH. Bala Chai has a niche following for itself in online direct retail and local Los Angeles cafes.
Ajay is a Co-founder of Hill Station Coffee.
Ajay was born in Canada and grew up in Seattle. A Columbia University graduate, he was part of consecutive successful start ups in Silicon Valley before embarking upon his personal entrepreneurial dream , founding Birthdate Co., a personalized candle and book company based on astrology that has been featured in the TODAY show, BuzzFeed, and The New York Times.
As friends, Indian-Americans and coffee lovers, both Bharat and Ajay always wondered why Indian Coffee has missed out on the specialty coffee movement in America.
Hill Station Coffee is a direct result of their vision to fill this void , and their efforts to integrate quality specialty Indian coffee into the existing coffee culture in the United States.
Together, Bharat and Ajay came up with an authentic, gourmet formula blending premium Indian monsoon Malabar Arabica coffee with select Indian spices in a convenient single-serve pour over sachet format that would be easily accessible and pleasing to the discerning American coffee connoisseur .
The adventure is just beginning and both look forward to sharing their passion for premium specialty Indian coffee with you in the years ahead and hope you enjoy each mug of Hill Station coffee in the spirit it was conceived .
